Military Spouse-run non-profit accepting gently used and new formal attire to offset the cost of Military formal events. Formal wear is distributed at no cost to Military ID card holders.
Operation Deploy Your Dress (ODYD) began at Fort Bliss almost 14 months ago, when I, along with fellow Army wives Ronya Rendon, Yvonne Coombes, Liz McKenrick, and Melissa Riely decided to organize a dress swap among our units’ spouses, as a way to defray the hefty costs associated with purchasing formal wear for military balls (especially for young and junior ranking soldiers on exceptionally tight budgets). Before long, our idea took off and we are now expanding Nationally with our most recent launches at Fort Eustis, VA and JBLM in Washington state.
ODYD is and always will remain a completely non-profit organization. We are run by dozens of volunteers and rely solely on donations. Since it’s inception, ODYD has have given away well over 3,000 pieces of formal wear. As we go forward, our goal is to continue to expand to other communities where our program would be of great benefit.
